Hundreds Gather in Sweden to Protest Israeli Attacks on Gaza, Lebanon

(MENAFN) Hundreds of people took to the streets of Stockholm on Saturday to protest Israel’s ongoing attacks on Gaza and Lebanon, demanding an immediate halt to hostilities.

Demonstrators gathered in the Odenplan area before marching toward the Swedish Parliament, waving Palestinian flags and chanting calls for Israel to withdraw from Palestinian territories and Lebanon. Participants also called for what they described as an “immediate and unconditional ceasefire.”

The protest focused both on violence in Gaza and the recent escalation of Israeli strikes in Lebanon. Swedish activist Bitte Fosbo, speaking to reporters, said she is part of a group promoting a boycott of Israeli products and urged Sweden’s national broadcaster SVT to withdraw from the Eurovision Song Contest in protest of Israel’s participation.

Fosbo criticized Israel’s military operations in the region, arguing that its policies toward Iran are part of a broader strategy. “The real issue is the US supporting Israel’s aggressive policies,” she said, warning that ongoing actions could escalate tensions across the Middle East.

She also highlighted the double standard in Western narratives, noting that Israel’s operations are frequently justified as "self-defense," a perspective she said is gaining traction in Swedish public opinion. Fosbo added that those who have lived in the region for generations are the most affected by the ongoing conflict.
